Trackdown has announced a major leadership transition, appointing long-time executive Elaine Beckett as Managing Director as the iconic Australian audio facility enters a new chapter after more than 35 years under founding Managing Director Geoff Watson.

One of Australia’s most significant music and post-production facilities – and home to the largest orchestral scoring stage in the Southern Hemisphere – Trackdown has played a major role across both local and international screen productions for decades. Its credits span major studio blockbusters including Furiosa, Mortal Kombat II, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Mad Max: Fury Road and The Lego Movie, alongside television productions such as NCIS: Sydney, Echo and What If…?

Beckett’s appointment marks both a continuation and evolution of Trackdown’s legacy. Having joined the company as an intern in 2004, she has spent more than two decades growing alongside the business, progressing through a range of leadership roles before serving as General Manager for the past 17 years.

Watson, who will now transition into the role of Executive Chair and Co-founder, praised Beckett’s contribution to the company’s growth and international standing.

“Elaine not only showed an innate ability to understand and accomplish the intricate management of a modern audio production facility, but also helped put Trackdown firmly on the international stage through her work building relationships with some of the biggest entertainment production companies in the world.”

For Beckett, the appointment represents both a personal milestone and an opportunity to continue expanding the studio’s reach within the global production landscape.

“I’m honoured to step into the role of Managing Director,” Beckett says.

“Having been part of the company’s growth for the last two decades, I’m excited to continue building on our studios and service offering for both local and international clients.”

Located in Sydney, Trackdown has long been recognised as one of Australia’s premier destinations for orchestral recording, music production and audio post-production. Beyond its screen credits, the facility’s Main Hall has also hosted rehearsals and performances for international artists including Coldplay, Justin Bieber and Cold Chisel.

As production activity across Australia continues to grow, Beckett’s appointment signals continuity for one of the country’s most established audio facilities – while positioning Trackdown for its next phase supporting large-scale international productions, local storytelling and evolving post-production workflows.
